Born and raised in Hawaii, I started to play tennis as a kid in the town of Kailua. In 1970 I began my professional teaching career at the Royal Lahina Tennis Ranch in Maui. I have also taught at John Newcomb Enterprise, where I was a Touring Pro, and at Reed Witt as a Head Pro. I worked as a Tennis Director and Head Teaching Pro at the Kona Hilton Beach and Tennis resort in Kailua Kona, at the Keauhou Beach Tennis ranch, at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea and at the Marriott Waikoloa Resort. In 1998 I moved to Arizona, where I was a Tennis Pro instructor at Gene Autry Tennis Club in Mesa. In 2000 I became an instructor at the Hyatt Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale. Three years later I left Arizona for California, where I worked as Tennis Director Director at Warner Spring Resort. Since 2005 I have been a Tennis Pro instructor at BTC.
I have been ranked number 10 in Open Doubles for 3 years. When teaching tennis, either to juniors or adults, to individuals or groups, my main goal is that my students learn to enjoy the game of tennis. For that reason, I like to teach in a simple and approachable style.
I am also a professional ukulele player and I teach at San Diego Music Studio in Point Loma and play at social events.
